Trolley Wheels and Wheelbarrow wheels receive a little TLC!It is with post Olympic Blues, that my eyes avert from the television and refocus on my garden, along with thousands of others. Gardeners all over the country have bounced back after the Olympics and have refocused their energies back into their overgrown gardens. Sales of replacement trolley wheels and wheelbarrow wheels have soared since the closing ceremony of the Olympics as gardeners replace their tired, flat or damaged wheels with brand new barrow wheels. A working wheel barrow or trolley is vital to tackle all those important jobs in the garden. But is it worth it? Many people often think its just as cheap to replace the complete wheelbarrow, however with such compettitive prices for replacement wheelbarrow wheels, its makes more financial sesne, and indeed less hassle, to order the replacement wheel and get it delivered to your door!
Figues from the Garen Centres Association show a disappointing sales figures for June and July, with sales down on average by 10%, however August has shown a vast improvement. Its not only gardeners that are sourcing trolley wheels, but also Garden Centres themselves. You may have seen and indeed used, the large flat bed trolleys in Garden centres, but have yoyu ever paid any attention to the wheels? Garden Centres use a large array of trolley wheels, from solid rubber wheels to pneumatic wheels, and from thin tread to extra wide tread wheels. These hardworking rubber trolley wheels certainly go the distance. A recent study showed many garden centre trolleys travel around on average 6 miles a day, which is over 2000 miles a year! Going such a distance, and carrying heavy plants, fencing and soil bags, means these trolleys have to be robust, and have wheels that are strong and durable. Lets face it these trolley wheels spend their entire lives outside in all weathers and have to move over a wide variety of floor surfaces.
If you are looking to replace your wheelbarrow wheel or trolley wheel then there are a number of simple steps you might like to consider. Once you have removed the wheel from the wheelbarrow of trolley frame, whilst keeping all the bolts and nuts, the first important measurement is to ascertain the overall diameter of the wheel. Not always as simple as it sounds, especially if your pneumatic air filled wheel has had a puncture. The best way to check the diameter is to stand the wheel upright, and see how tall the wheel is. The second important key measurement is the size of the hole in the middle of the wheel. This is called the hub bore. This measurement is important to match up, so the trolley axle or wheelbarrow bolts can be reused. The final maesurement to consider is the hub length. This is the distance or the width of the hub bore. To match replacement trolley wheels, and to prevent wheel wobble, its important to have a wheel of similar dimensions. These three measurements will allow you to search for a replacement wheel with ease as they are industry standard attributes. So if you feel now is the time to tidy up your garden, but require a replacement barrow hweel, its now a quick and easy project and the replacement wheel can be with you, delivered to your door within twenty four hours. |
